TIME 100 is the annual list of the world’s most influential people conducted by the American news magazine, TIME. This features a number of leading artists, scientists, law makers, politicians, and leaders of tech and business.
And this year, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte after consistently leading the survey, topped the poll. TIME 100 aimed to solicit their readers’ choice as to who should be included in the 2017 TIME 100.
TIME 100 poll was closed Sunday night as President Duterte topping the list with 5% of the total “yes” votes. Duterte’s government put great importance on war against drugs. Despite of the many controversial issues that comes along with this Anti-drug campagin, Duterte remains unshakable and feared no one.
According to Presidential spokesperson Ernie Abella, “What makes President Rodrigo Duterte admired by Filipinos and international leaders alike is his national agenda- he has prioritized public interest first and foremost, especially the needs and aspirations of the poor and common people.”
Following Duterte in the TIME 100 poll were Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg each earned 3% of the total “yes” votes.
The official result of TIME 100 list, which will be selected by TIME’s editors, will be announced on April 20.
